Retrofit Assessment

Price on request

A retrofit assessment takes a whole-home view to inform energy improvement planning. It considers the property, its condition and the needs of the people using it.

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BOOKING

What is Retrofit Assessment?

A retrofit assessment gathers information about an existing home before energy improvements are planned. It looks beyond a single product to understand the building, its condition and how it is used. This helps the project team identify constraints and opportunities so insulation, ventilation and heating decisions can be considered together.

Inside this service

The agreed assessment considers the property’s energy characteristics and relevant condition, occupancy and ventilation information. It can identify matters that need investigation before upgrades are designed. The assessment does not itself install measures, approve funding or replace the wider coordination and design process. The required deliverables should match the project rather than a generic package.

When this service may help

Homeowners, landlords, housing providers and retrofit project teams may need an assessment before improvement works. Some programmes specify a particular assessment framework and evidence requirements. Tell us whether your project is privately funded or linked to a scheme, and whether a retrofit coordinator or other project professional has already been appointed.

Getting ready for the assessor

Provide the address, property type, existing EPC and details of proposed improvements or scheme requirements. Arrange access throughout the home and share known issues such as leaks, condensation or previous alterations. The occupier’s experience of heating and ventilation can be useful, so agree how that information will be collected before the visit.

Using your completed report

The output gives the project team a property-specific evidence base for developing improvement options. Any limitations or further investigations should be addressed before decisions are finalised. A whole-home approach helps avoid treating one measure in isolation. Installation quotations, detailed designs and post-work verification need to be identified separately where required.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Questions before you arrange a visit

Is this just another EPC?

No. An EPC focuses on modelled energy performance. Retrofit assessment gathers wider information relevant to planning improvements to an existing building.

Will this guarantee a grant?

No. Funding eligibility and approval depend on the particular scheme and its decision process. An assessment alone does not confirm eligibility.

Should damp problems be mentioned?

Yes. Known moisture, ventilation or condition issues can affect the suitability and sequencing of proposed work.

What determines the quotation?

Property size, project framework, required outputs and available information affect the assessment scope. Include the scheme details if applicable.

Included in your agreed instruction

  • The retrofit assessment scope and dwelling agreed in your quotation.
  • Assessment outputs and recommendations specified for that instruction.

Separate work & possible extras

Retrofit installation work, project management and additional design or coordination are separate unless expressly agreed.

Before the visit

Provide existing energy reports, improvement history and any relevant property or occupancy information requested by the assessor.

Report timing & deadlines

Report timing is confirmed for the agreed instruction. Missing evidence, access limitations or further investigation can affect completion. If you have a deadline, contact us before paying so we can confirm whether it can be met.

Preferred appointment dates are requests until confirmed. Extra work or a change to scope needs agreement before it is carried out.
