EPC Improvement Plan

An EPC improvement plan starts with existing energy information and the changes you want to achieve. It helps structure a discussion about suitable priorities and practical constraints.

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BOOKING

What is EPC Improvement Plan?

An EPC improvement plan helps turn an energy certificate into a practical set of property-specific next steps. Rather than assuming every recommendation should be installed immediately, it considers your current rating, available evidence, priorities and constraints. The aim is to support informed decisions about which measures to investigate, cost and schedule.

Inside this service

The review considers the current certificate, building characteristics and relevant improvement options. Depending on the agreed scope, it can compare proposed measures, identify missing evidence and outline a sequence for further investigation. Any modelled rating or saving is an estimate based on stated assumptions, not a guaranteed result for an uninspected or altered property.

When this service may help

Landlords, homeowners, buyers and agents may want a plan when a property has a low rating, refurbishment is planned or a future target needs evaluating. A useful starting point is a clear objective: improving comfort, understanding rating options, reducing energy demand or coordinating work during a tenancy change. Different objectives can lead to different priorities.

Getting ready for the assessor

Send the existing EPC, details of changes since it was issued and any insulation or installation records. Explain your budget range, access constraints and planned works. Where relevant, identify lease restrictions, conservation considerations and known defects. These details help keep the advice realistic and avoid recommending work that cannot be implemented as proposed.

Using your completed report

You receive an agreed plan explaining the options, priorities and next steps. Detailed surveys, specialist designs and contractor quotations may be needed before committing to work. If improvements are completed, a new EPC assessment may be needed to record the updated performance. Keep invoices and product information so changes can be evidenced.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Questions before you arrange a visit

Can you guarantee a particular EPC band?

No. Results depend on the building, accepted evidence, completed measures and the assessment methodology. Any predicted rating should be read with its assumptions.

Should I replace the boiler first?

There is no universal first measure. Building fabric, ventilation, controls and the existing heating system should be considered together.

Does the plan include installation?

No, unless separately agreed. It helps define the work to investigate and commission; installation remains a separate service.

What information is needed for a quote?

Provide the address, current EPC if available, target or concern and any planned refurbishment. We will clarify whether further inspection is needed.

Included in your agreed instruction

  • Review of the property information and energy performance evidence within the agreed scope.
  • A property-specific improvement planning output as defined in the quotation.

Separate work & possible extras

Installation works, a guaranteed future EPC rating and guaranteed energy savings are not included.

Before the visit

Share the existing EPC, property details, improvement plans and budget priorities.

Report timing & deadlines

Report timing is confirmed for the agreed instruction. Missing evidence, access limitations or further investigation can affect completion. If you have a deadline, contact us before paying so we can confirm whether it can be met.

Preferred appointment dates are requests until confirmed. Extra work or a change to scope needs agreement before it is carried out.
