Asbestos Survey

Price on request

An asbestos survey investigates materials within a defined survey scope. Explain any planned works and existing records so the survey requirements can be discussed.

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BOOKING

What is Asbestos Survey?

An asbestos survey helps identify the location and condition of materials that may contain asbestos within an agreed area. The report provides information for managing those materials or planning work safely. Appearance alone cannot confirm asbestos: analysis of a suitable sample is needed to identify its presence. The survey type must match the reason for commissioning it.

Inside this service

A management survey supports normal occupation and foreseeable maintenance. A refurbishment or demolition survey examines the areas affected by planned work and can involve intrusive access. The report should make inspected areas, limitations and findings clear. A management survey must not be treated as permission to disturb concealed materials during construction.

When this service may help

Property owners, dutyholders, managing agents and contractors may require information about asbestos before managing, maintaining or altering a building. Tell us about the building’s age, use and proposed works. A survey for routine occupation has a different purpose from a survey before refurbishment, so the project details matter as much as the address.

Getting ready for the assessor

Provide existing asbestos reports, floor plans and a clear description of proposed works. Agree access restrictions and occupied areas in advance. Intrusive inspection may require the work area to be vacant and arrangements for making openings safe afterwards. Do not break or disturb suspected material to collect a sample yourself.

Using your completed report

The report helps inform an asbestos register, management arrangements or a suitable work plan, depending on the commission. Finding asbestos does not automatically mean every material must be removed; condition, location and the likelihood of disturbance matter. Removal, air monitoring and ongoing management are separate activities that may need specialist input.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Questions before you arrange a visit

Which survey do I need?

For routine management, a management survey may be appropriate. Before refurbishment or demolition, the scope must address materials that the planned work could disturb.

Does the survey include removal?

No. Surveying identifies and records relevant materials. Any removal or remedial work needs a separately agreed scope and appropriate contractor.

Can a photograph identify asbestos?

A photograph may help explain the location but cannot confirm whether a material contains asbestos. Suitable sampling and analysis are needed.

What affects the cost?

The survey type, building size, proposed works, access and sampling requirements affect the quote. Send these details before arranging the visit.

  • The survey report and any sampling or analysis expressly included in the agreed scope.

Separate work & possible extras

Asbestos removal, remediation, inaccessible areas and additional specialist work are not automatically included.

Before the visit

Explain the reason for the survey, planned works and occupied areas. Do not disturb suspected materials to prepare for a visit.

Report timing & deadlines

Report timing is confirmed for the agreed instruction. Missing evidence, access limitations or further investigation can affect completion. If you have a deadline, contact us before paying so we can confirm whether it can be met.

Preferred appointment dates are requests until confirmed. Extra work or a change to scope needs agreement before it is carried out.
