KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BOOKING

What is Electrical Services?

Electrical services cover agreed installation, repair and fault-investigation work on a property’s electrical systems. The first step is to understand the issue or proposed change so the work can be scoped properly. A useful description of symptoms, location and existing reports helps distinguish a straightforward repair from a problem that needs investigation.

Inside this service

The agreed work might involve fault diagnosis, replacement accessories, lighting, circuit alterations or remedial work following inspection. The electrician assesses the relevant installation before confirming an appropriate solution. Work and certification depend on what is carried out. An initial enquiry should not assume that a visible symptom identifies the underlying fault.

When this service may help

Homeowners, landlords, agents and business occupiers may need help with damaged accessories, recurring faults, lighting changes or planned electrical alterations. Where an EICR identifies defects, provide the report so remedial work can be linked to the recorded observations. New installations and changes to existing circuits can require different arrangements from minor repairs.

Getting ready for the assessor

Provide the address, a concise description and photographs taken only from a safe position. Include any EICR observations and explain whether the issue is intermittent or affects several areas. Arrange access to the consumer unit and relevant rooms. Tell us about equipment that cannot be switched off so interruptions can be planned.

Using your completed report

After agreed work, retain the applicable records and any recommendations for additional investigation. A repair to one defect does not certify every part of the installation. If a wider EICR is required, that should be arranged separately. We will clarify what the quotation covers, including whether diagnosis and subsequent repairs are separate stages.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Questions before you arrange a visit

Can you repair defects listed on an EICR?

Send the full report and any photographs. The observations help define the remedial scope and the evidence needed after work.

Can you quote from a photograph?

A photograph can help scope the enquiry, but some faults require on-site investigation before the repair and price can be confirmed.

Will the power need to be off?

Electrical work can require isolation. Tell us about sensitive equipment and occupants’ needs so the arrangements can be discussed.

What should I include in the enquiry?

Describe the work, affected rooms, known faults and access arrangements. Do not open electrical covers or touch exposed wiring to obtain more information.

Included in your agreed instruction

  • The electrical investigation, repair or installation tasks explicitly listed in your agreed quotation.
  • The documentation specified for the work undertaken.

Separate work & possible extras

Unlisted remedial work, replacement items or additional circuits require an agreed change to scope and price.

Before the visit

Describe the work or fault, property use, access and available electrical records. Leave electrical equipment closed.

Report timing & deadlines

Report timing is confirmed for the agreed instruction. Missing evidence, access limitations or further investigation can affect completion. If you have a deadline, contact us before paying so we can confirm whether it can be met.

Preferred appointment dates are requests until confirmed. Extra work or a change to scope needs agreement before it is carried out.
